The language of wave labeling

Before reading any Elliott Wave chart, you must know one fundamental rule of labeling:

MOTIVE WAVES

Numbered
CORRECTIVE WAVES
A B C
Lettered

Motive waves move in the direction of the larger trend and are numbered 1 through 5. Corrective waves move against the larger trend and are labeled A, B, and C.
